ARTE France supports short films through a policy of purchases, pre-purchases and co-productions broadcast in the magazine Court-circuit every Saturday after midnight, and on the arte.tv platform and social media channels. Acting as a talent scout, the Court-circuit team supports the production of approximately 30 short and medium-length films a year, and purchases around 30 as well.
2 to 3 short animation or fiction series are co-produced every year. For example: La Minute vieille, 50 nuances de grecs, etc.
Our slots for short programs, medium-length films and short series
We purchase French-language short fiction films, short animated films and medium-length films (31 to 59 minutes) from all over the world, and pre-purchase short and medium-length films that have received selective funding support (from the CNC, region, department or co-producing country).
We also co-produce French-language humorous short series consisting of 30 episodes lasting up to 3 minutes each.
Information necessary for the submission of your proposal
Our team studies short and medium-length fiction and animation projects that have been granted selective financing (pre-production or CNC program assistance, regional or departmental assistance in production or directing, or assistance from a co-producing country).
For scenario-based pre-purchase requests, we require the following information:
- Short synopsis
- Scenario
- Director's and producer's statements
- Mood board
- Funding plan
- Estimated quote
- Director's and producer's résumés
- Copy of the letter or e-mail justifying the selective funding granted
- Link to the previous film of the project is not a first film
For purchases of completed films, we are looking only for French-language short fiction films, or short animation films from around the world, or very recent medium-length films from around the world (current and previous year).
For short films in languages other than French, the German ZDF/ARTE channel purchases and pre-purchases films (contact: Catherine Colas Colas.C@zdf.de).
